✅ What is Task Manager?

👀 Overview

Task Manager is a new feature in Fabric that enables users to govern record creation in their Fabric entertainment catalog. With the platform's user base expansion, it is essential to provide users with the ability to manage record updates and edits. Task Manager utilizes user permissions, granting different user groups access to specific functionalities based on their roles and permissions.

🤔 Why do we need it?

As Fabric expands to accommodate numerous users and clients, the need for efficient record governance becomes paramount. Task Manager addresses this requirement by allowing clients to exercise control over what records are created, updated, and edited in their entertainment catalog. By leveraging user roles and customizable permissions, Task Manager empowers clients to align record creation with their specific needs and workflows.

⚙️ How does it work?

Task Manager operates through the creation of tickets, which serve as containers for records. There are two ticket types available: Standalone tickets and TV Show tickets. Standalone tickets are ideal for records without hierarchy levels, while TV show tickets are suitable for records with hierarchy levels. Once a ticket is created, users can update various details such as ticket Status, Priority, and Assignees. Tickets can be assigned to users with Task Manager permissions, ensuring seamless collaboration.

Users can add records to tickets using the Bulk Uploader for uploading multiple records at once or manually through ticket forms. Task Manager also includes features such as commenting and viewing ticket history, enabling users to track and manage the workflow as tickets progress through different stages of the client specific workflow. The approval process allows administrators to review and approve records, which are then directly created in Fabric with all the corresponding attributes.

🙌🏻 Summary

In summary, Task Manager serves as a governance workbench, empowering clients to govern record creation and updates in their Fabric entertainment catalog. It provides the necessary control, flexibility, and collaboration tools for clients to effectively manage the creation, updating, and editing of records, ensuring they align with their unique requirements and workflows.
